I'm new. . .

Going to a new church can be awkward when you do not know what to expect. Let us give you a "heads up," about what you can expect when you join us at Westgate.

We gather for God

People go to church for different reasons. Even churches have different purposes for existing. The primary reason we gather on Sundays is to worship the God who offers forgiveness of sins, restoration for humanity, and redemption for the world through Jesus Christ. In other words, it is more about Him than it is about us. However, by gathering, we gain a better understanding of ourselves. In a normal service, we will sing about Him and to Him. Our pastor will preach and teach the word of God, and our hope is that everyone will have a personal encounter with Him that will change their life for eternity.

What does a service usually consist of?

Pretty simple, actually... We sing, we worship together, and we hear the preached word of God. Some may verbally shout praises to God, others may cry, some just smile, the point is that at Westgate you have freedom to worship the Lord as He leads you as long as it is scriptual.

What should I wear?

When you visit Westgate, you will find that we are not an overly formal church. We expect people to dress modestly and would hope that they would wear their best when going to visit a King. For some that may mean a suit and tie, for others it may mean jeans. We know that many have dropped their standards on what one may wear to church, but we still believe that God has a standard!

Are there programs for young people?

We have an active children's ministry. We offer a powerful Children’s Church service on Sunday Morning for ages 4-9 and on Wednesday night your child can be apart of Team Kids program for ages 4-12. The teens have Youth services on Wednesday nights. We also offer a Nursery for children from birth to age 3 during all worship services. You are welcome to ask any question you would like to our children’s director or our youth pastor.

Do I have to give money?

Let God direct your heart when it comes to giving financially. Financially supporting Westgate is ultimately an act of worship to God for those who are committed to the Westgate vision and mission. We certainly have no expectation of you giving financially as a guest but we do believe that God chose tithing and offerings to fund his local church.

How can I get involved?

There are so many ways to get connected at Westgate. The first thing we invite you to do is join a Sunday School Class. We believe that one of the best ways to strengthen your walk with Christ is to get involved with a small group. We have many classes at Westgate that will enable you to grow not only in God's Word, but also to share and uplift others for God's glory. We also have several ministry teams that you could be a part of from Missions to Kitchen teams. Westgate is the place for your whole family to serve God.

What kind of people make up Westgate Free Will Baptist Church?

If you were to visit us at Westgate you would find people who are real. What we mean by that is our church welcomes those who other churches may not want. We believe that all of God’s children have a story to tell. Some of our people have been saved for most of their lives while many are new or very young Christians. Westgate members span all different ethnicities, ages and backgrounds. Everyone is welcome  to join us as we worship

Is Westgate affiliated with any group or organization?

Westgate is affiliated with the National Association of Free Will Baptists. The roots of Free Will Baptists are easily traced to the time that our nation was founded and beyond. The Bible and the redemptive work of Jesus have always been at the center of Free Will Baptist movement. Westgate cherishes our traditions of faith. At the same time, our goal is not to reproduce denominational loyalty, but to reach out to people who are moving toward a personal, growing faith in Jesus Christ. You may never have been a part of a Free Will Baptist Church. Still, we invite you to walk with us in building a church that focuses on the highest goals of the kingdom of Christ.
